J. Roddy Walston & The Business - Jesus Gonna Do His Best
Taking in a J. Roddy Walston & the Business show is something that everyone should do. Their wild, frenetic energy and balls to the wall sound made them one of my absolute favorite acts to see live. In the video above for song Use Your Language you can get a sense of just how fun they are they’ve released a video featuring footage of their time in DC, Philly and Brooklyn.
And to celebrate the release of this video, they are offering up a brand new track Jesus Gonna Do His Best available on their website for the price of an email.

To give you background, J Roddy Walston and the Business is a 4 piece rock quartet from the fine city of Baltimore, MD. They play rock music the way it was intended, loose and fast, wild and crazy. Often upbeat and super catchy, this rock music is based on fantastic musicianship driven by piano and huge guitar solos. Lets not forget the vocals and harmonies scream. This is the kind of rock & roll you expect to be played in dive bars and dirty dance clubs. Its all about dirty jeans and boots and setting the world on fire. You know… what rock & roll is supposed to be. Renaissance?
Turn your speakers wayyyy up to 11 and get on listening. Don’t Break the Needle, the opening track on J Roddy Walston and the Business’ self titled album opens with your ears with the first sounds of piano and the grainy, whiskey soaked vocals that make this track so perfect.
Previously released track Brave Man’s Death, is a heart breaking narrative ballad like track that is a harrowing tale of honorable death. The chorus erupts in a howl “I don’t wanna die in the middle of the night, I want a brave man’s death,” this song really shows off the true emotionality of the writing, and the vocals.
Another track released recently is I Don’t Wanna Hear It, This is pure rock and roll with no excess and a great attitude, its got great sing along harmonies, this is one track you’ll be getting speeding tickets because of.
Get out there and buy this album if its the last thing you do. J Roddy Walston and the Business has done rock & roll a great favor. They have made them look lazy.
